rTMS
Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS) is a non-invasive, FDA-approved treatment that uses gentle magnetic pulses to stimulate specific areas of the brain involved in mood, focus, and emotional regulation.
It’s a safe, drug-free alternative for people who haven’t responded well to medication — or want a non-medication option.
We use rTMS for both **FDA-approved** and **off-label** conditions:
**FDA-approved:**
- Major Depressive Disorder (MDD)
- Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
**Off-label uses (clinically supported):**
- PTSD
- ADHD
- Anxiety
- Post-concussion symptoms
- Cognitive “brain fog”
- Executive functioning issues
Ask us if rTMS might be appropriate for your goals!
A standard treatment course involves:
- 5 sessions per week
- For 4 to 6 weeks (total 20–30 sessions)
- Followed by optional tapering or maintenance
Each session lasts about 20–30 minutes. You can return to work or school immediately afterward.
rTMS is **not** the same as Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT).
- rTMS is non-invasive, does not require anesthesia, and does not cause memory loss.
- ECT is typically reserved for very severe or treatment-resistant cases and involves brief seizures under sedation.
rTMS is well tolerated by most patients and does not interrupt daily functioning.
Yes — rTMS is FDA-cleared, with an excellent safety profile. Side effects are usually mild and short-lived.
Contraindications may include:
- A history of seizures
- Metal implants in the head or neck (excluding dental fillings)
- Some types of brain injuries
We'll review your medical history to make sure rTMS is safe for you.
If you’ve tried medications or therapy without full relief — or if you’re looking for a more natural, non-medication option — rTMS may be a great fit.
